On the 15th  of May 2019 the Ladies section at Wellow Golf Club hosted their annual Spring Rally. This is a very popular event attracting clubs from Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset with over 120 ladies participating.

Proceeds from the raffle this year and a donation from Melanie’s golf clothing, who attended again this year, raised over £500 for the Charity in support of the new Children’s Emergency & Trauma Hospital at Southampton General Hospital.  Thank you to everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets for this very worthwhile charity.

With the course in prime condition , and the weather promising , the ladies prayed for the weather to hold and those prayers were answered. The 120plus ladies enjoyed a fantastic day in the \Sunshine with a gentle breeze cooling them off throughout the day.

Once everyone was on the course a shotgun signalled the start of the competition.

The ladies were treated to a wonderful selection of homemade halfway refreshments which were very much appreciated.

These were provided by the Wellow Ladies and we have some excellent bakers in the section.

For the second year running we had suppliers of ladies golf clothing at the event and all this was set up for when the ladies came off the course. For those ladies who may not have had a good time as far as the golf went, they could at least treat themselves to a new outfit.

The ladies sat down to an excellent buffet meal provided by Mike and his team in the kitchen.  The Lady Captain gave a short speech thanking everyone involved for making it such a memorable day and then introduced Ken Parker, the Club’s President who kindly attended to present the prizes.

The hard work and co-ordination of this event is all down to the Ladies Section, Management Team, Catering Staff and of course our Greenkeepers.  Thank you to all those involved in making this such a successful and enjoyable day for all the clubs that attended and we look forward to seeing them all again next year.
