The presidents Day competition, the last major event of the year in the club’s calendar and is always one of the most well supported competitions at Wellow.

2017 was no different, with over 140 members showing their support to Ken Parker, club President for the past 6 years. The full playing field consisted of 7 and 5 day members, Juniors, Ladies and Seniors, with all prizes donated by Ken himself .

The 35 teams arrived in high spirits despite the constant rain. The weather didn’t stop the field fanning out across the 200 acres in West Wellow to their starting tee for a 930am Shotgun start.

After a long round in the wind and rain, the clubhouse was full for the presentation, which is testament to Ken Parker and all the great work and support he has given all the sections at Wellow over the past 26 years.

The day saw 4 nearest the pins contested along with a Putting competition. Team prizes were also awarded for the 4ball better ball format.

Margi Burt came out on top for the ladies with 36 points and also won herself a nearest the pin prize.

Team winners consisted on Martin Wood, Nigel Noyce, Ash Hewer and Club Captain , Kevin Foot with a  total of 121 points to win on countback.

The winner of the President’s Trophy with an impressive 42 points in tough conditions was Graham Ferguson, who edged out  Graham Thompson who shot 40 points.
