To all Wellow Lady Members –

Thank you to all of the ladies who attended the Ladies AGM and for those of you who missed it I would like to start this newsletter by thanking Gill for all she has done for us. I am looking forward to the year ahead as Captain and will do my best to ensure the smooth running of our Section. This is something I had not anticipated undertaking again and I am counting on your support in making 2018 successful and enjoyable for everyone.

We will be organising fundraising events and there will be prizes to be won so lookout for information, support us and you could be a lucky winner.


Quiz Nights. These are held on Friday evenings, monthly, throughout the winter including a special Christmas quiz. We move to Monday evenings May to September. There will also be the cash prize for the final round if the question is answered correctly. If you know of anyone who would like to make up a team of 4, invite them to join us.  

Friday Night Food and Fun Golf during the summer, a relaxed way to enjoy mixed competitions.

Turkey Trott is a club event on Sunday 3rd December. Ladies make sure you enter as there will be prizes for ladies teams. Don’t forget your festive hats!!!

Festive Frolics Wednesday 6th December. This is a nine hole stableford played in teams of three, teams will be drawn. There will also be a festive challenge from me. This is separate from the golf and there will be prizes so I hope you all have a go, I promise it will be fun

Ladies Christmas Dinner Thursday 7th December, menu will be available very soon just being finalised.

Mince Pie and Coffee Wednesday 13th December. This is nine hole individual, three clubs and a putter competition. Mince pies, coffee or hot chocolate are served after the golf.

Sheets for the above competitions and Christmas Dinner will be put up as usual in the locker room. If you wish to take part please sign up.

Bring & Win Wednesday 20th December. Nine hole stableford, wrap a gift to the value of no more than £5. Bring the gift; add it to the draw then everyone who takes part will draw a prize.


Grand Hamper Raffle – this is a very popular fundraising event for the Section and all contributions will be much appreciated such as complete hampers or individual items for a hamper. Be as creative as you like it does not always have to involve food. The draw will take place following the Turkey Trot on Sunday December 3rd.  Don’t forget to buy tickets!!

THE BOOK & PUZZLE SALE will be held on 21st February – donated books and puzzles can be left in the locker room.  The dates’s in the diary- come along and support us.

Coffee Morning  On September 12th we will be holding our annual Coffee Morning. This is proving to be a very popular event and any new ideas to help with the fundraising will be greatly appreciated. I know we have lots of skilled ladies out there. I look forward to hearing from you.                                                   


Various raffles are held during the year to raise money for our nominated charity. If you have items to donate please put them in the box in the locker room at any time.  Thank you in advance!

GOLF NOTES                                                                                                        

 The 9 Hole Fun Competitions will continue on Wednesdays throughout the winter months. Please arrive NO later than 8.30 am for a 9am Shotgun start, £2 to enter, everyone welcome.

Prizes for all these competitions will be accumulated and you will receive vouchers for M&S to spend on goodies of your choice.

The Mixed Scrambles will be held monthly, on the last Friday of the month starting in October ending in March. A great way to play social golf.  Please see the mixed notice board or contact Gill Pletcher.

The Away Day will be at Ferndown Forest on 1st August. A course we can all play and you will be able to treat yourself to something from the fantastic ladies golf shop. The perfect combination for a day out with friends. It’s very easy to get there, come along and have some fun- there are also prizes to be won.

9 Hole Qualifier Played on Ryedown (A)  These will run from April – October – where possible every third Monday. There are now 3 nine hole medal qualifiers in the diary for 2018.

CompetitionsA polite request to ask everyone to ensure payments for competitions are made before the closing date and also that you have the required number of qualifiers to enter. We don’t want you to miss out on taking part. Compliance with the rules is your responsibility; please ask if you are unsure.

Charity Bunkers    

There will be one bunker on each of the nine hole courses. They are A9 right, B2 1st right and C2 right. If you find yourself in one of these we would appreciate £1 donation in the charity bottle on the bar. Thank you
