THE JUNIOR ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
HELD IN THE CLUBHOUSE FRIDAY 27TH OCTOBER 2017 Start : 6:10pm
October 27th saw another very successful Junior AGM, held in the Nightingale room at Wellow Golf Club.
Among those present at the meeting were, Club Captain Kevin Porter, Phil Hill, Junior Organiser David Board, Gill Lobb and Assistant Manager Billy Ray.
For the second year running we saw an increase in participation amongst the juniors and again we had more parents and members come and support the meeting than the previous year, which shows how much the Junior section is improving and growing.

Junior Captains Report
This was read aloud by Gill Lobb in the absence of Captain Lewis Sutton.
I send my sincere apologies as I am unable to attend this evenings junior AGM. It has been a difficult season for us all as we aim to recreate the magic of 2016. I have personally been fighting injuries that have plagued my season, before 2017 had even started I had already picked up a severe wrist injury from playing football that took longer to heal than first thought.
I think we can all agree that we didn’t perform as we would’ve liked in the Hampshire junior league, poppy golf or green jackets competitions. However with a new breed of golfers that are much hungrier, determined and motivated I am sure that it won’t be long until we are back performing well on all 3 fronts. We had some really good moments in junior coaching sessions where Danny would make it his personal objective to take the mick out of Zak, George and myself.
I’ve been really impressed with how the newer members have developed their games throughout the season and how eager they are to get out onto the golf course. With Danny’s tuition they could go on to become a really special group and win many competitions for Wellow in the future. Moving on, I’d like to wish all the juniors the very best for the new season. I would like to thank Danny Harris for his fortnightly coaching sessions which are always well attended.
Thank you to Billy Ray for the numerous lifts from Romsey Station and more importantly for promoting Wellow and junior golf through social media.
A huge thank you to the competition and handicap secretaries for all the hard work that they put in behind the scenes, thank you to parents for acting as out taxi drivers and ferrying use from venue to venue.
Thank you to the bar and kitchen staff for always being on hand to cook cheesy chips. And, finally a massive thankyou to Dave and Gill for all the hard work that they put in week in week out to make sure that the junior section runs smoothly. I’d like to wish Michael Hillman and his vice-captain all the best for the coming season. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your junior captain in 2017.
