WELLOW GOLF CLUB 2017 INVITATIONAL
Wednesday 12th of July 2017
This Month saw one of the biggest days in the Ladies’ calendar. The Ladies invitational is one of the highlights of the year as the Wellow Ladies invite friends from all over the country to showcase their course and have a day of golf, good food and fun.
The 32 pairs set off on a grey but pleasant Wednesday morning, but the day was to brighten up as the ladies hit the half way point.
After nine holes the groups were greeted by Captain Gill Whalvin and gang, who supplied light refreshments from the clubhouse patio.
The day was ended with the sunshine showing its face and a buffet served up by Mike and his catering team in the Nightingale Room before the presentation was to begin.
The eventual winners were Helen Parker and Chris Robinson.
A great day was then rounded off with a move away from golf. Many of the ladies remained in the clubhouse and delayed their trip home, only to witness the shock exit of Andy Murray from Wimbledon.
All in all everyone had a lovely day catching up with old friends and hopefully making new one as well.
The month of July has seen multiple competitions being strongly competed by all.
Sue Lanham, now playing off 11, followed her win in the Club Championship to win the stableford the following week .
New member Laurie Wallace won the EWGA Medal by 1 shot over Barbara Shier.
Hilary Lee and Margret Morgan also both enjoyed success in the Wednesday Ladies Stablefords.
